Watching movies in the standard 4:3 ratio television sets is such an aggravating experience caused by the necessity to deal with watching the film either cropped, with only the center portion being shown, or with the black bands on top and at the bottom of the screen, known as letterboxes, which in turn scale back the picture size. With a reduced picture size, I have a tendency to squint at the screen particularly with smaller television sets.
